Honorable George Foresman has more than three decades of leadership experience in government and business. While serving as the homeland security secretary for the state of Virginia, he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as undersecretary at the Department of Homeland Security. During his bipartisan career, George held positions with two U.S. presidents and five Democratic and Republican governors. In business, his board and chief executive experience transects small companies to Fortune 200 corporations. He is adept in strategy creation and building public-private partnerships. George has led more than 25 national working groups, co-chaired a five-year congressionally established commission on U.S. security, participated in a project to reform the U.S. national security system, overseen seven start-ups in government and business, and directed the state of Virginia’s 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) efforts. In addition to board work, George now holds senior advisory and teaching roles with several U.S. defense organizations and at a top national research university. For over a decade, George has co-led the program that prepares senior military officers and civilians to transition into top national security leadership roles and has mentored a U.S.-led, multinational effort on global and outer-space security. George is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and the Virginia Executive Institute. He lives with his family near Charlottesville, Virginia.
